Unsere Arbeitsgruppe beschäftigt sich mit der metabolischen Regulation nicht-konventioneller T Zellen und untersucht deren Rolle für die Entstehung von Lebererkrankungen.

Forschungsgebiet und Kollaborationen

Chronische Lebererkrankungen und ihre Komplikationen gehören zu den häufigsten Erkrankungen bei Erwachsenen weltweit. Diese können durch verschiedenste Trigger entstehen, jedoch ist allen die Inflammation als zentrales pathogenetisches Element gemeinsam. Mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells, semi-innate T Zellen, die vor allem in der Leber vorkommen, gelten als wichtige Mediatoren der hepatischen Inflammation.

 

Unsere Arbeitsgruppe beschäftigt sich mit der Regulation der Aktivierung und Funktion von MAIT cells durch metabolische Umprogrammierung und deren Bedeutung für die Entstehung der nicht-alkoholischen Fettlebererkrankung und ihren Komplikationen. Es besteht eine enge Kooperation mit dem Institut für Molekulare Immunologie und Experimentelle Onkologie, TUM.

 

Die AG Böttcher ist Teil des Forschungsbereiches Gastrointestinale Immunologie.
